Lyric songwriting workshop with award-winning multi-genre songwriter Janellybean Does your teen enjoy writing poetry? Are they a storyteller? Do you have a teenager who is interested in writing lyrics? This class will expose your child to the different techniques of writing lyrics with the hope of finding out what works best for them on their lyrical journey. Your teen will leave the workshop with original songs and the skills necessary to continue developing his or her songwriting skills. The class will utilize hands-on exercises, thought-provoking lectures, small group exercises, individual work, and off-class assignments to help students discover their vocals and style as lyric songwriters. An instrument is only one aspect of songwriting, though many will take advantage of that aspect of songwriting, it is not necessary for this workshop. These peer groups may give the student who does not have a background in music the opportunity to learn to collaborate with musicians and may inspire a hunger or clarity to learn piano, guitar, ukulele, etc. The student who has that skill can make use of and step up her/his writing by making use of their previously acquired knowledge.
